State law gives the
Nevada Attorney General the authority to set the
guidelines for community notification of where a
registered sex offender lives and/or works. The Attorney
General sets these guidelines with the guidance of the
state Advisory Council for Community Notification. You
can read the current
Sex Offender Community Notification Guidelines here.
The state statutes also require the state to maintain an
online sex
offender registry. Only offenders who are
categorized as a Tier 2 or Tier 3 offenders, those most
likely to reoffend, are listed in the online database.
The database is maintained by the State Criminal History
Repository.
Please note: The information listed on the state online
sex offender registry is provided for general public
safety. A person is authorized to use this information
only to protect him/herself or a child who may be at
